Bong Go: ‘am not interested to run for president’; voices support for a Sara Duterte candidacy
ILIGAN CITY—Senator Christopher Lawrence Go has said he is not interested in running for President in 2022 and is rather prepared to support a presidential run of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.
Go in a statement on Wednesday afternoon said he is leaving his political fate “to God, to the Dutertes… and to the Filipino people.”
“My position has not changed. I am still not interested in running for President. And as I have said before, if Mayor Sara runs, I will support her,” Go clarified.
The statement was issued following the Davao mayor’s challenge for Go and President Duterte to “own up publicly their decision to run as a tandem.”
Mayor Duterte has described the supposed shape up of such a tandem as “not a pleasant event.”

(From the start, I have said that I will support the decision of the Dutertes. For now, let us await their final decision.)
“I leave my fate to God, to the Dutertes—kung anuman ang desisyon nila Pangulong Duterte at Mayor Sara pagdating sa pulitika —and to the Filipino people dahil sila po ang nagbigay sa akin ng pagkakataon na makapaglingkod sa kapwa at marating kung saan man po ako nandirito ngayon. Hindi ko sasayangin ito,” Go added.
(I leave my fate to God, to the Dutertes—-whatever decision President Duterte and Mayor Sara have about politics—-and to the Filipino people because they gave me this opportunity to serve the people and be where I am today. I will not waste this.) Ryan D. Rosauro
