Ilocos Norte logs 16 more COVID-19 deaths

LAOAG CITY––Ilocos Norte recorded 16 COVID-19 deaths, 13 of them from this city, according to provincial government data on Thursday, Aug. 26.

The deaths brought the total fatalities to 178. The other dead patients were from Bacarra and Bangui towns.

The same provincial government data showed no deaths in the past 14 days.

At least 266 new cases were also added to the province’s COVID-19 tally, bringing the total infections to 14,387 since the pandemic began, including 10,283 recoveries.

The provincial government said it would hire at least 146 contact tracers, at least 80 of which would be assigned to Laoag City, 43 to Batac City, two each to Bangui and Pagudpud, and one to Burgos. INQ
