Occidental Mindoro reports first COVID-19 Delta variant

CITY OF CALAPAN Occidental Mindoro has logged its first COVID-19 Delta variant, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) of Occidental Mindoro and Department of Health (DOH) reported on Tuesday.

Occidental Mindoro Gov. Eduardo Gadiano announced that the patient is a 27-year-old woman from Sablayan town, who is asymptomatic and on quarantine for monitoring.

Gadiano said he ordered the PHO and Municipal Health Office in Sablayan to immediately conduct a massive contact tracing of all primary and secondary contacts of the said patient.

Since the pandemic broke out in March last year, the province has reported a total of 2,212 COVID-19 cases, including 120 active cases, 2,021 recoveries, and 71 deaths, as of August 23.
