Tarlac’s active COVID-19 cases breach the 1,500-mark

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga—The active COVID-19 cases in Tarlac province climbed to 1,549 on Monday, Aug. 23, after the provincial government recorded 184 new patients in the last two days.

Tarlac’s Aug. 22-23 bulletin showed that the new cases include a 1-year-old boy in Camiling town, a 2-year-old girl in Gerona town, a 2-year-old boy in Moncada town, and five other children aged 3 to 11 in Capas, Camiling, Moncada, and Tarlac City.

The youngsters are in quarantine, except for a 9-year-old boy confined in a Tarlac City hospital.

The province also registered 37 new recoveries and zero deaths during the same period.

The capital city of Tarlac has the most active cases at 521, followed by Capas with 195 and Victoria with 130.

Data show that the province has recorded 10,756 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began last year. Of these, 8,774 have recovered, while 433 have died.

The province is under general community quarantine and has been implementing strict border controls against virus spread.
