LAOAG CITY—More than one million doses of vaccines against COVID-19 were already administered to the eligible residents in the Ilocos region, the Department of Health (DOH) said on Monday, Aug. 23.
Dr. Rheuel C. Bobis, COVID-19 focal person of DOH in Ilocos, said1,006,401 vaccines had been administered out of the 1,170,440 total doses allocated to the region so far.
At least 489,424 residents in the region belonging to the top priority groups have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 516,977 residents received at least one dose of the vaccine, latest data from the DOH showed.
Those belonging to the A1 priority group or health workers have the highest vaccination coverage, with at least 93,184 of them being fully vaccinated already.
About 42 percent of the 542,102 eligible senior citizens have also been fully immunized.
Under the A3 priority group (persons with comorbidities), at least 127,218 received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Bobis said the region is eyeing to inoculate at least 70 percent of its total population of 5.3 million by the end of 2021. INQ
