MANILA, Philippines — Vaccinated workers will continue to enjoy free rides in Metro’s main railways while the region is on modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ), the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said on Saturday.
Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade said the free rides would be extended for workers taking the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT 2), Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT 3) and Philippine National Railways (PNR) until Aug. 31.
But the DOTr clarified that PNR and LRT 2 would only offer free rides during off-peak hours. The MRT 3 will give free rides during peak hours from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The PNR will only offer free rides from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To claim the free ride, commuters need only to present their vaccination card and ID.
