MANILA, Philippines — Fully vaccinated Filipino workers bound for Hong Kong will be permitted entry starting August 30 upon presentation of vaccination certificates issued by the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ), Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III announced on Sunday.
Bello shared that the Hong Kong government has agreed to allow overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) vaccinated in the Philippines to enter and work. The OFWs must present their COVID-19 vaccine certificate released by the BOQ.
According to Bello, around 3,000 OFWs are expected to benefit from the move.
Meanwhile, the Hong Kong government is in coordination with partner hotels for the quarantine of OFWs. The cost of the accommodation shall be shouldered by employers.
To recall, the Hong Kong government prohibited OFWs who received their vaccines in the Philippines to enter in the region due to the non-issuance of unified vaccination cards.
The BOQ then prepared a draft immunization certificate with the OFW’s passport details as requested by Hong Kong.
