DSWD employee arrested for inflicting injuries on tricycle driver

MANILA, Philippines — An employee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) was arrested in Mandaluyong City for inflicting physical injuries on a driver, the Eastern Police District (EPD) said on Sunday.

Based on the EPD’s spot report, 34-year-old Ramel Demdam was apprehended on Saturday, 5:10 p.m after harming Philip Ymasa, a tricycle driver.

Ymasa asked the DSWD employee to stop the illegal cockfighting that occurred in front of their house. However, Demdam “got angry and deliberately punched” the tricycle driver.

Ymasa sustained injuries on his head and nape. He then sought for assistance after the incident.

Afterwards, Aniceto Manansala and Rodenz Flores of Barangay Addition Hills’ Bantay Bayan apprehended Demdam.
