New EPD headquarters, fire station in San Juan starts construction — mayor
MANILA, Philippines — The construction of the new headquarters of the Eastern Police District (EPD), the San Juan City police, and the San Juan City fire station started on Wednesday in a bid to boost security operations in the city as well as enforce measures to contain the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) efforts, the San Juan City government said.
“This [headquarters] is not just about peace and order, it is also about our fight against Covid-19 na yung kasagsagan ng ECQ [enhanced community quarantine] ‘yung mga checkpoints natin noong panahon ng Covid-19, sila [police] po ang tumutulong talaga,” Zamora told reporters after the groundbreaking ceremony along Santolan Road.
(This headquarters is not just about peace and order, it is also about our fight against Covid-19 because, during the ECQ, the police were the ones who enforced the checkpoints.)
The new headquarters for the city’s police force and fire personnel will add police presence and further improve the peace and order situation in the city, said Zamora.
“It will be a one-stop shop for our EPD, San Juan police, and San Juan Bureau of Fire Protection. This will be a big help and that EPD’s force will transfer here. San Juan will be even safer,” the mayor said, partly in Filipino.
