Trade unions, workers’ associations and farmworker groups added their voices to the growing call for Vice President Leni Robredo to run for president in the 2022 elections.

The Alliance of Labor Leaders for Leni Robredo (#ALL4Leni) made their call in the form of a jingle and music video. They said Robredo’s track record of good governance could turn the country toward recovery.

“We believe that Vice President Leni, with her track record of good governance, could turn the country around toward recovery and regain the people’s trust in our institutions,” said Julius Cainglet of the Federation of Free Workers, writer of the jingle.

In addition to the call for Robredo to run for the highest post in the country, the video also called for a more worker-friendly pandemic response.

The group called for adequate and equitable government aid for all, as well as the upholding of labor, women’s and health rights in the country.

“The #ALL4Leni jingle is based on the calls of workers for wage subsidy, social protection, defense of human and trade union rights, and quality public services as centerpieces of the government’s pandemic response,” Cainglet said.

The group hopes to “unite all workers’ organizations” under a Robredo presidency.
