211 COVID-19 recoveries reclassified as deaths — DOH

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 211 COVID-19 cases that were initially tagged as recoveries were actually deaths and were reclassified as such on Saturday, the Department of Health (DOH) said.

The DOH said it reclassified the recoveries as deaths “after final validation.”

On Friday, the DOH said 221 cases earlier tagged as recoveries were actually deaths. On Thursday, 180 recoveries were also reclassified as fatalities.

Meanwhile, 443 duplicate entries, including 426 recoveries, were likewise removed from the total case count on Saturday.

The DOH has yet to answer why there were errors in the tagging of the cases.

The country currently has 123,935 active COVID-19 cases, including the 16,694 additional infections logged on Saturday, the second-highest single-day increase after the 17,231 cases confirmed on Friday.
