Over 140,000 Tarlac folk fully vaccinated vs COVID-19

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Some 143,000 persons or 13.59 percent of Tarlac’s target population have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of Friday, the provincial government announced.

The provincial government is targeting to vaccinate 70 percent or 1,052,419 of its total population of 1,503,456, based on the 2020 census.

It said some 182,555 have received first doses of the COVID-19 vaccines as of Friday.

Like the other provinces in Central Luzon, Tarlac has been suffering from surging coronavirus cases. From only 445 active cases on August 2, the number spiked to 1,275  on Friday.

The province also registered two new fatalities on Friday – a 70-year-old woman from Bamban town, and a 62-year-old woman from Tarlac City.

No new recoveries were registered on Friday.

Tarlac has recorded a total of 10,443 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out last year.

A total of 8,737 have recovered while 431 have died.

Tarlac City has the most active cases at 424, followed by Capas town with 164, and Concepcion town with 104 active cases.
