MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — Police have arrested two village officers in La Paz town, Tarlac province after they allegedly slapped and punched two minor siblings, the Tarlac provincial police disclosed on Tuesday (Aug. 17).
Investigation showed that the siblings, a 15-year-old male and 17-year-old female, residents of Barangay Sierra, were on their way home around 8 p.m. on Aug. 15 when village treasurer Froilan Alfaro, 44, and peacekeepers Pepito Alfaro, 70, and Jaime Alfaro, 57, accosted them.
Pepito allegedly pointed his finger at the boy. Investigators said that when his sister tried to defend him, the village peacekeeper allegedly slapped her on the face.
Police said the three village officers allegedly punched the boy’s head several times.
The siblings filed complaints against the village officers at the La Paz police station.
Upon learning about the complaints filed against them, Pepito and Jaime went to the police station “to shed light and give their sides,” investigators said.
But they were placed under arrest for violation of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act. Froilan is facing similar charges.
The three suspects have yet to issue a statement on the incident.
