78 % of COVID-19 beds in Olongapo city now occupied
OLONGAPO CITY — Only 22 beds dedicated to COVID-19 patients remained vacant in the city’s four health facilities, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed on Wednesday.
The city’s bed occupancy rate, which is already at 78.8 percent, is considered as “high risk” based on the DOH’s classification.
Records from the agency said 82 of the 104 COVID-19 beds in the city have already been occupied.
Last week, Fr. Raymann Catindig, Columban College’s president, said Bishop Bartolome Santos of the Diocese of Iba has permitted the city government to again use the 5-storey hotel in Barangay Barretto as an alternative isolation facility.
It was in August last year when the same hotel was tapped as a COVID-19 facility in the city following a surge in COVID-19 cases.
