Small-scale miner killed

CAMARINES NORTE—A gold panner in Barangay Sta. Rosa Norte of Jose Panganiban town  died after falling into a mining pit on Wednesday.

Provincial  police chief Senior Supt. Joselito Esquivel said Wowie Menedez,  31, was sleeping on a bench near the mining pit when he fell into the 20-meter hole operated by a certain Macoy Asistin.

Menedez succumbed to multiple head and body injuries, said Esquivel.
