Tuguegarao City to extend ECQ for 7 days as COVID-19 cases soar
TUGUEGARAO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases here rose to 988 on Monday (August 16), prompting Mayor Jefferson Soriano to extend the city’s enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status, the most restrictive quarantine classification.
In an interview on Tuesday, Soriano said the ECQ would be extended for seven days starting August 22.
The regional inter-agency task force has initially placed the city on ECQ from August 12-21 due to the virus surge.
Data showed that the city has already recorded 9,392 COVID-19 infections since the pandemic began last year.
Soriano said he has isolated himself anew after he was exposed to an infected patient although he did not have the symptoms.
