BACOLOD CITY — Two more employees of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in this city tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which causes COVID-19.

Elections Officer Kathrina Trinio Caña said the Comelec office in Bacolod will be closed until August 23.

The city’s Comelec office has 16 employees.

Last weekend, one of the employees tested positive for the coronavirus, prompting employees to undergo swab tests.

On Monday, results showed that two more employees have contracted the virus.

SARS-CoV-2 was first detected in China’s Wuhan province in late 2019. To date, SARS-CoV-2’s mutations developed variants such as the Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, Theta, and Lambda, among others.
