MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 10,035 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, a decrease from the 14,000 new cases in the last three days due to lower testing laboratory output during the weekend.
According to DOH, the 105,787 active cases now account for six percent of all the 1,765,675 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country.
Meanwhile, the health department also recorded 10,858 new recoveries, raising the tally to 1,629,426. Ninety-six additional fatalities also pushed the death count to 30,462.
The DOH said 22.2 percent of 38,243 people who were tested were found positive for coronavirus on Sunday. All laboratories were operational on Sunday but six were not able to submit their data on time. The six non-reporting labs contribute 1.2 percent of samples tested and 1.4 percent of positive individuals on average in the last 14 days.
“The relatively low number of cases today is due to lower laboratory output last Sunday,” the agency said.
According to DOH, 206 duplicate entries, including 201 recoveries, that were earlier tagged as recoveries were reclassified as deaths after final validation. Thirty-nine cases that were previously tagged as recoveries were also reclassified as deaths after validation.
The country is currently at high-risk classification for COVID-19 as it saw a higher number of additional cases for August. The healthcare utilization for COVID-19 beds has also reached moderate risk at 62 percent.
