CEBU CITY Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan has warned people against the proliferation of fake vaccination cards.

In a statement he posted on Facebook, he said vaccination cards, which have QR codes, are only given to people who fully received the vaccines against COVID-19.

Screenshots of a conversation of an individual selling COVID-19 vaccination cards for P1,500 in Lapu-Lapu City were circulated on social media on Saturday, August 14.

The person selling vaccination cards allegedly promised to deliver the card “door-to-door.”

“This is just a secret, ma’am. This is just for those who need vaccination cards for travel or work but are afraid to get vaccinated,” said the person in one of the text messages.

Chan said he will not tolerate any illegal transactions.

“To the Oponganons, if you come across anyone who offers you these illegal transactions, let me know. Call the AHONG Cares Hotline immediately. I will find those people myself or I will imprison them myself,” the mayor said in his post.

The Lapu-Lapu City government is now investigating who was behind the illegal scheme.
