At least 40 of 300 contacts of Delta variant cases in Ilocos Norte positive for COVID-19

LAOAG CITY—At least 40 of the 300 contacts of the five patients infected with the Delta variant tested positive for COVID-19, the Ilocos Norte government announced in an Aug. 14 statement.

The provincial government said the 300 individuals belonged to the first to fourth-generation contacts of the five Delta cases reported on July 25.

The province has 12 cases of the Delta variant, which had been detected in the cities of Laoag (3) and Batac (1), and the towns of Bacarra (2), Currimao (1), San Nicolas (2), Paoay (2), and Pagudpud (1).

On Aug. 15, the COVID-19 cases in Ilocos Norte reached 12,075, including 4,261 active, 7,658 recoveries, and 156 deaths, according to the provincial government.
