42 female inmates in Tacloban get jabbed vs COVID-19

TACLOBAN CITY—At least 42 female inmates in a jail facility in this city were inoculated Thursday against COVID-19.

Dr. Joedina Gumagay, chief of the Tacloban City Hospital, who led the vaccination drive at the city jail, said inmates should be given priority in the vaccination drive to ensure that COVID-19 would not spread inside the facility.

“God forbid, if one of them gets the infection, it will be easy and fast for COVID-19 to spread. That is why we have to prioritize them in the vaccination drive,” she said.

In Borongan City, Eastern Samar, the Borongan Cathedral was used Thursday as a vaccination site that accommodated 560 people who received the Moderna vaccine.

The provincial capital of Eastern Samar is grappling with COVID-19 cases.

In Ormoc City, Leyte, more than 50 motorcycle-for-hire (MCH) drivers received their first doses of AstraZeneca on Friday.

The vaccination was held in a shopping mall in the city that aims to vaccinate more people, especially the economic frontliners.

The city government targets to vaccinate 2,400 MCH drivers in Ormoc City.
