Bacolod launches mobile vaccination drive vs COVID-19 to reach poor

BACOLOD CITY—This city launched on Thursday its mobile vaccination drive against COVID-19 to inoculate more people, especially the poor.

Dubbed “VAX-i”, the drive aims to make vaccination more accessible to the public, said City Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

“This is a classic case. If Muhammad cannot go to the mountain, let the mountain go to Muhammad,” Leonardia said.

The mobile vaccination clinic will target workers, including vendors and public transport drivers unable to leave their work for a day to go to vaccination centers.

“They are those who are in the fringes of society. They cannot easily leave work and line up for long hours to get vaccinated. Otherwise, they will have no income for the day to feed their families,” Leonardia said.

“Our goal is to make the vaccination program more accessible to everyone so we can achieve herd immunity and eradicate COVID-19 as fast as possible,” he added.
