OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases among the workforce of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Central Luzon climbed to 100 on Thursday (Aug. 12), records showed.

According to the health service of the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3), eight of its personnel have tested positive for COVID-19 on the same day.

The latest infections raised to 2,056 the total number of COVID-19 cases of PRO3 since last year.

But nine more virus-infected police in the region were cleared of the disease on Thursday, pushing to 1,951 PRO3’s number of recoveries. So far, PRO3 has a 94.8-percent recovery rate.

Its COVID-19 death toll was still at five with no additional fatalities in recent days.
