MANILA, Philippines — The Office of Vice President (OVP) Leni Robredo and the local government of Quezon City joined forces on Thursday for the vaccination drive-thru for jeepney and tricycle drivers and operators.

The OVP Vaccine Express initiative was held at the Robinsons Novaliches Open Parking and will continue until Friday.

“Ang exposure kasi ng ating mga drivers talagang malaki—ang exposure nila sa mga customers, sa mga restaurants na binibilhan nila ng pagkain, sa pang-araw-araw na pakikibaka nila sa paghanapbuhay,” Robredo said.

(The exposure of our drivers is really significant—their exposure to customers, to restaurants where they buy food, for their everyday survival.)

Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte also expressed the same sentiment as Robredo.

“Tricycle and jeepney drivers and the delivery riders have to get vaccinated because they ferry our workers to work and deliver their food and essentials, especially during this ECQ. It protects them, passengers and customers, and their families from infection,” Belmonte stated.

The vaccinees, pre-registered under Quezon City’s system, will be provided with a post-vaccination care kit, P500 gift check, and other various items courtesy of OVP’s Angat Buhay partners.

Belmonte, meanwhile, thanked the OVP and Robinsons Malls for the immunization rollout partnership as it expedites the city’s vaccine deployment.
