Ilocos Norte logs 245 more COVID-19 patients

LAOAG CITY—Ilocos Norte on Wednesday logged 245 new COVID-19 patients, raising the total cases to 4,191, according to the provincial government.

At least 235 patients were cleared of the disease, bringing to 6,334 the total number of recovered patients, data from the provincial government showed.

Most of the active cases were recorded in Laoag with 1,056, followed by Batac City (649), and the towns of Bacarra (366), Pasuquin (241), Bangui (187), San Nicolas (170), Paoay (161), and Sarrat (158).

On Tuesday, independent research group OCTA flagged Laoag anew for having a critical average daily attack rate at 51.91 per 100,000 population.

The latest report from the provincial government showed that 74,055 vaccines against COVID-19 had been administered to priority residents.

At least 50,480 residents had one dose, while 23,575 were fully vaccinated.

To achieve herd immunity, at least 70 percent of the 609,588 total population in Ilocos Norte needs to be inoculated.
