Sea turtle entangled in fish net returned to Ormoc Bay

ORMOC CITY—An Olive Ridley sea turtle, which was accidentally caught by a fisherman, was returned to Ormoc Bay.

Irish Belmonte, of Ormoc’s office of the fish warden, said fisherman Ernesto Ornopia called the attention of her office after the sea turtle was entangled in his fish net.

Belmonte said she and staff of the office immediately went to the area and brought the sea turtle to the Animal Production and Fisheries Division Office for checking.

The sea turtle, she said, was very healthy and did not need rehabilitation, allowing its swift return to the sea.

Belmonte thanked Ornopia for entrusting the turtle to the City Fish Warden Office.
