Bulacan courts on 4-day lockdown due to COVID-19

CITY OF MALOLOS––All judicial courts in Bulacan province were placed on a four-day lockdown from Tuesday until Friday (Aug. 10-13) after more court workers and judges contracted COVID-19.

In a letter to the local courts on Monday, Aug. 9, Bulacan Regional Trial Court (RTC) Executive Judge Olivia Samar cited the “alarming increase” in virus infections among the court employees, although she did not indicate how many have already contracted COVID-19.

Samar said the closure was meant to prevent the spread of the virus, adding they would continue to operate and remain accessible to the public through their hotline and judiciary email accounts.

“Videoconferencing hearings for cases already set prior to the court’s closure should still be conducted,” Samar said. INQ
