MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila mayors have agreed to prohibit residents from going out of their homes for exercise during the two-week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) over the region, Chairman Benhur Abalos of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said in a taped briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte that aired on Monday.
“We passed a resolution this afternoon that prohibits even going out of your house to exercise because it’s important for the next two weeks for us to take care of our Metro Manila residents,” Abalos said in Filipino.
Metro Manila is under ECQ until Aug. 20 during which only essential establishments and industries are allowed to operate.
The region also enforces a unified curfew from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. during ECQ.
