COVID-19 facilities in Medical City in Pasig reach full capacity

MANILA, Philippines —  The Medical City in Pasig could no longer admit more COVID-19 patients as of Monday, Aug. 9 as its facilities for treating those infected with the disease have reached their full capacity.

“We regret to announce that as of August 9, 2021, our COVID floors, ER and ICU unit have reached full capacity,” the hospital management said in a Facebook post.

The hospital assured, however, that it would continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Pasig as an integral part of the One Hospital command.

It urged COVID-19 patients in need of urgent medical assistance, to go to other healthcare institutions.

Earlier in the day, St. Luke’s Medical Hospital also announced that its COVID-19 ward and ICU both in Taguig and Quezon City were already at full capacity.

Last Saturday, Aug. 7, the Philippine General Hospital also announced its reaching full capacity.

As of Monday, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 450 cases of the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 nationwide.

In total as of Monday, the DOH has recorded 1,667,714 infections nationwide, of which 78,840 are active cases with 1,560,106 recoveries and 29,128 deaths.
