Habagat in Luzon, LPA near Visayas to bring rain nationwide — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — Southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, and a low pressure area (LPA) east of Visayas, will affect weather conditions in the country, bringing scattered rains and slightly cloudy to cloudy skies from Monday night through Tuesday, according to the state weather bureau.

“Asahan pa rin ang maulap na kalangitan mga pagulan at pagkidlat at pagkulob sa nakararaming bahagi ng Northern Luzon ganun din sa ilang bahagi ng Southern luzon pati na rin dito sa Metro Manila,” said Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) senior weather specialist Chris Perez.

(Continue to expect cloudy skies, rain, lightning and thunder in most parts of Northern Luzon and some parts of Southern Luzon including Metro Manila.)

Meanwhile, the entire Visayas will also experience cloudy weather and scattered rain due to an LPA last spotted 335 kilometers east of Borongay City, Eastern Samar.

“Sa buong Visayas naman asahan pa rin ang maulap na kalangitan at kalat kalat na pagkidlat at pagkulob,” said Perez.

(Meanwhile in Visayas expect cloudy skies and scattered lightning and thunderstorms.)

“Habang sa Mindanao maulap din, may mga pagulan at pagkidlat pagkulob sa Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao at dito sa Surigao provinces,” he added.

(Mindanao will also be cloudy, with rain and lightning covering the Zamboanga Peninsula Northern Mindanao and here in Surigao provinces.

Below are the state weather service’s forecast temperature range in key cities/areas:

Metro Manila: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 16 to 24 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 21 to 31 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 27 to 33 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 24 to 29 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Davao City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius

Perez said no gale warning is currently raised but moderate to rough seas are still expected in the majority of the country’s coasts, especially in the eastern seaboard.

“Mag-ingat po sa mga kababayan nating mangingisda at may mga sasakyang pandagat lalo na kung papalaot kayo sa eastern seabord ng ating bansa dala nga nung makapal na ulat na dala ng [LPA],” said Perez.

(Our fishermen and those with small marine vessels should be careful, especially if you are sailing on the eastern seabord of our country because of the thick clouds brought by the LPA.)
