MANILA, Philippines — The COVID-19 ward and intensive care unit (ICU) of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Taguig City and Quezon City have reached full capacity, the hospital management said Monday.
In a statement, St. Luke’s urged those experiencing COVID-19 symptoms who are in need of urgent medical assistance, to consider other healthcare institutions for their treatment.
“Please be informed that as of August 9, 2021, the COVID wards and critical care units of St St. Luke’s Medical Center in both Global City and Quezon City have reached full capacity,” it said in an advisory.
“While we also have patients awaiting admission at the Emergency Rooms,” it added.
The advisory of St. Luke’s comes as Metro Manila reverts to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) from August 6-20 in the face of a COVID-19 Delta variant scare.
On August 7, the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) also announced that its ICU for COVID-19 patients has reached full capacity.
To date, the Department of Health reported the detection of 450 cases of the more transmissible Delta variant of COVID-19 in the country.
