Palace expects arrival of 2.8 million COVID-19 vaccine doses this week

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines is expecting the arrival of more than 2.8 million COVID-19 vaccine doses this week, Malacañang said Monday.

In a press briefing, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said 813,150 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine developed by Pfizer will arrive on Wednesday, August 11.

On Thursday, August 12, Roque said two million more doses of the Sinovac COVID-19 jab will be delivered.

Both batches were procured by the government, added Roque.

As of August 8, the National Task Force against COVID-19 said a total of 38,602,200 COVID-19 vaccine doses have arrived in the country.

The most recent vaccine shipment was delivered on Sunday, which is comprised of 326,400 Moderna COVID-19 vaccine doses.

More than 11.2 million or a little over 10 percent of the country’s population has so far been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
