1 dead in motorcycle collision in Lucban town

LUCENA CITY––A motorcycle rider died after his vehicle was hit by another motorcycle along the Maharlika Highway in Lucban town in Quezon province on Sunday night, a report said Monday.

The Lucban police reported that Jerome Mendoza was driving his motorcycle when he was bumped by another motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in Barangay Kaalyaat around 10:45 p.m.

Both drivers were thrown off their respective vehicles and hit the pavement.

Mendoza died while being taken to a hospital also in Lucban. A report said the victim was driving under the influence of liquor.

The unidentified driver of the other motorcycle fled on foot after the incident and left his vehicle that has no plate number.

The report did not state whether or not the fatality was wearing a crash helmet.

The police are investigating the case to identify and arrest the driver of the other motorcycle.
