DOH: COVID-19 Delta variant detected in all Metro Manila LGUs

DOH: All NCR areas now have local COVID-19 Delta variant case

MANILA, Philippines — The highly transmissible COVID-19 Delta variant has been detected in all cities and the lone municipality in Metro Manila, the Department of Health (DOH) said Friday.

In an online press briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire initially said that “16 out of the 17 cities in NCR are with Delta variant cases out of August 5.”

The DOH later clarified that the Delta variant has been detected in all 17 local government units in Metro Manila.

Based on DOH data, Las Piñas has 23 cases of the Delta variant—the most among all LGUs in the region—followed by Pasig with 21 cases, city of Manila with 16 cases, and Malabon with 12 cases.

Vergeire said the municipality of Pateros and Malabon City are under critical risk classification with high-risk two-week growth rate and average daily attack rate (ADAR).

Meanwhile, all areas, except Caloocan City and Marikina City, have high-risk ADAR.

She said healthcare utilization in Metro Manila cities range from 33 to 68 percent.

The capital region is under enhanced community quarantine from August 6 to 20 to stem the further spread of the Delta variant.
