Councilor’s daughter, son-in-law survive ambush in Cagayan town

TUGUEGARAO CITY––The son-in-law of an incumbent councilor was wounded after two motorcycle-riding gunmen ambushed him and his wife on Monday in Enrile town, Cagayan province.

Investigators said in a belated report that Gary Lappay, 36, son-in-law of town councilor Sergio Turingan, suffered a bullet wound on his shoulder.

The police said Lappay’s wife, Emerald Joy, was unscathed.

The initial investigation showed that the victims were on board their car, when the assailants opened fire in Barangay San Roque. Lappay was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The police were looking into personal grudge as one of the motives in the attack.
