Mandaluyong vaccinates 100% of senior citizens against COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — The Mandaluyong City government has already vaccinated 100 percent of its senior citizens, according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
“Tomorrow we will be having an event in Megamall celebrating that in Mandaluyong, we have already vaccinated 100 percent of all senior citizens,” MMDA chairman Benhur Abalos said in an online town hall session hosted by Go Negosyo.
In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos, wife of the MMDA chairman, said the city has 29,759 elderly according to its Office for the Senior Citizen’s Affairs.
“However, we have vaccinated a total of 30,362 senior citizens of which 25,336 (83 percent) were fully vaccinated while 5,026 are just waiting for their second dose,” she added.

Article continues after this advertisementData from the LGU showed that 266,764 individuals are partially vaccinated while 212,096 are fully vaccinated in the city.
Article continues after this advertisementThe mayor earlier said the LGU is targeting to vaccinate 325,127 individuals between September and October to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.
Mandaluyong has 300 active cases of COVID-19 as of Tuesday, including 61 new cases.
