6 more earthquakes observed in Mt. Pinatubo

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales—At least six volcanic earthquakes were registered Monday in Mt. Pinatubo, data from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) showed.

The seismic activities were observed within the last 24 hours.

Mt. Pinatubo remains on alert level 1, which indicates low-level unrest, the Philvolcs said.

But the agency said the earthquakes are not an indication of an imminent eruption.

Phivolcs recorded seven similar earthquakes around the volcano the previous day.

The alert level 1 was first raised in Pinatubo in March this year after a series of volcanic earthquakes that started in January.

But these seismic activities were not easily noticed, according to Phivolcs.

Pinatubo has been on normal status since 1996.
