2 drown in Abra rivers
BAGUIO CITY—Two persons were swept away by the raging river current in San Juan town, Abra province, police said on Tuesday, Aug. 3.
The body of one of them, identified as Joseph Barbosa, 54, was found in Santa town, Ilocos Sur province also on Tuesday, according to investigators.
Barbosa of Barangay Quidaoen in San Juan went missing on July 28 after he drowned in the Abra River.
Jomar Turqueza, 28, drowned Monday in the swollen Malanas River, according to the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.
Turqueza, from Barangay Abualan, also in San Juan, went fishing in the river with his father and brother.
Authorities were still searching for Turqueza’s body.
