Tokyo logs 2,195 new COVID-19 cases

TOKYO — The Tokyo metropolitan government confirmed 2,195 novel coronavirus cases on Monday, a record for the day of the week, and the seventh consecutive day the tally has exceeded 2,000.

The Monday figure was 766 higher than the same day the previous week.

The seven-day moving average was 3,214, a little more than double the previous seven-day period’s figure of 1,554.

The number of seriously ill COVID-19 patients in the capital rose by 13 from the previous day to 114. This figure is up by 36 from a week ago.
