LAOAG CITY—This capital city of Ilocos Norte has logged 1,045 active COVID-19 cases as infections have risen in recent weeks, data from the city government said Saturday.
On Friday, 112 new cases were added to its COVID-19 tally, with 56 recoveries and five deaths.
Laoag City accounts for 35 percent of the 2,948 total active cases logged in Ilocos Norte, according to the provincial government.
Also on Friday, independent research group OCTA flagged the city anew for having a critical infection rate at 1.49.
The group also noted a critical average attack rate (ADAR) of 54.51 cases per 100,000 population.
Meanwhile, Batac City continues to have the second highest number of COVID-19 cases with 308, followed by the towns of Bangui (221), Bacarra (220), Sarrat (184), Dingras (171), Pagudpud (131), Pasuquin (115), and San Nicolas (105).
The Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City reported on Friday that 146 moderate, critical, and severe COVID-19 patients are currently admitted.
Seventy two of the hospital’s health workers are currently in isolation after contracting the virus.
