OLONGAPO CITY––Torrential rains dumped by the prolonged “habagat” (southwest monsoon) caused rivers in this city to breach their banks again at dawn on Thursday, July 29, authorities said.

Rivers traversing bridges in Sta. Rita and Mabayuan villages and Memorial Park reached the critical level at 12:43 a.m.

The incessant rains also caused the river in Barangay West Bajac-Bajac to swell, thus flooding the streets in the area.

A rainfall warning was issued hours before the water level in the rivers rose, according to the city disaster risk reduction and management office.
