NDRRMC tally: 70,000 displaced by nonstop rains
MANILA, Philippines—More than 70,000 people were displaced in seven regions by nonstop monsoon rains in Manila and nearby provinces, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Monday (July 26).
The NDRRMC said 72,239 people,
or 17,616 families, sought shelter in evacuation centers or extended relatives in the regions of Ilocos, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, National Capital Region and Cordillera Administrative Region.
One was killed while two others were injured.
The NDRRMC also estimated P2.4 million worth of damage to infrastructure and P102 million in damage to agriculture.
