MANILA, Philippines — Marikina City announced the suspension of its scheduled COVID-19 vaccination on Monday and Tuesday as heavy rains spawned by the southwest monsoon continues to batter Luzon, including Metro Manila.
“Dahil sa patuloy na malakas na pag-ulan at sa banta ng pagbaha, pinagpaliban ang schedule of vaccination sa susunod na dalawang araw,” the city government said in a Facebook post.
(Due to continued heavy rains and the threat of flooding, the vaccination scheduled for the next two days has been postponed.)
Marikina City’s scheduled vaccinations on Monday and Tuesday has been be moved to Saturday, July 31.
Earlier this morning, Valenzuela City also suspended its scheduled Sunday and Monday vaccination activities.

Meanwhile, Marikina River’s water level as of 12 noon was at 15.5 meters. The first alarm has been raised.
President Rodrigo Duterte, in a press briefing on Saturday, also ordered local government units (LGUs) not to let people line up for COVID-19 vaccination in flooded and rained out areas.
