PH logs 6,216 new COVID-19 cases, over 6,000 recoveries

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines on Saturday recorded 6,216 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total active cases to 54,401.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases is 3.5 percent of the total caseload in the country of 1,543,281.

Meanwhile, the DOH also logged 6,778 new recoveries, raising the number of patients who have so far recovered to 1,461,749.

On COVID-19 testing, 13 percent of the 45,592 persons tested were found positive for the virus on July 22.

Two laboratories were not able to submit their data to the  COVID-19 Document Repository System on time, the DOH said.

Based on data over the last 14 days, the two non-reporting labs contribute 0.1 percent of samples tested and 0.1 percent of positive individuals on average.
