Typhoon Fabian destroys electrical poles in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES – At least five electrical poles in Subic town were destroyed on Friday night due to heavy rain and strong winds spawned by Typhoon Fabian which continues to bring rains over most of Luzon.

Zambales II Electric Cooperative Inc. (ZAMECO II) said three electrical poles along the national road in Barangay Calapandayan were hit by a fallen pine tree.

As a result, the main road in Subic to Olongapo City was temporarily closed but was reopened Saturday after the clearing operation. Two other electrical poles in the resettlement area in Barangay Cawag were damaged, said ZAMECO II.

At least seven villages in the province reported power outages.

In San Antonio town, a large fallen tree also caused heavy traffic along the national road on Friday, said Tenny de Jesus, head of the municipal disaster risk reduction management office.
