Marijuana pusher busted in Quezon province

Arrest of 2 suspects carrying explosives in Agusan

LUCENA CITY––The police on Thursday arrested a marijuana supplier and seized over P750,000 worth of the weed in Lucban, Quezon.

Operatives from local police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) busted Anthony Chino, 29, after selling P1,000 worth of marijuana to a police agent and an informant in Barangay Ayuti around 3 p.m., the Lucban police said in a report Friday.

Authorities seized two kilos and 89 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks worth P752,040 in the street market, police said.

The report tagged the suspect as a marijuana supplier in the locality and nearby areas.

With the scarcity of shabu (crystal meth) in the local market due to the government’s relentless campaign and operations against drug pushers in the city, most shabu users have shifted to marijuana, a police agent disclosed.

The detained suspect will face charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In December last year, the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs removed marijuana from the most dangerous drugs category.

However, the Dangerous Drugs Board and PDEA maintained that the Philippines’ drug laws would prevail in marijuana use. INQ
