Work suspended in Oriental Mindoro due to heavy rains, flooding
CITY OF CALAPAN––Oriental Mindoro Gov. Humerlito Dolor ordered on Friday the suspension of work in all government and private offices in the province after floods caused by continuous rains over the last two days hit some areas.
A report reaching the governor’s office also showed that some key roads in the province were flooded and unpassable, as of early Friday, said Dolor in a social media post.
Dolor said only frontline personnel from the disaster management, engineering, and health offices would be on duty. Public hospitals would also remain open, he added.
Private institutions engaged in telecommunications, power, and other vital institutions and private hospitals should ensure they have enough staff to continue their services, he said.
The governor said town mayors and heads of national government agencies operating in the province could add to the list of offices that they would keep open.
He advised residents to stay home for their safety. INQ
