SAN JOSE CITY, Nueva Ecija — A 69-year-old woman was allegedly shot and killed by her younger brother during an altercation in this city on Sunday (July 18) afternoon, police said.
Investigators identified the victim as Laureda Bermoza, a resident of Barangay Caanawan, and the suspect as retired Army soldier Eusebio Tugas, Jr., 60, of the same village.
Police said the victim and the suspect, who was reportedly drunk, were arguing until the latter took his short firearm from his house and shot the victim successively.
Bermoza sustained gunshot wounds and was taken to the San Jose City General Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
Forensic investigators recovered from the crime scene six spent shells from a .45-caliber pistol.
The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation in Barangay San Andres in the adjacent Science City of Muñoz. Police also recovered from him the alleged murder weapon.
Tugas is now facing murder charges, police said. INQ
