ACT sees delay in in-person classes due to vaccine lack

/ 04:32 AM July 18, 2021

MANILA, Philippines — The Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT), a militant group, expressed concern that in-person classes in pilot areas could be further delayed as the lack of vaccines remained “the biggest hurdle” to the inoculation of teachers.

ACT has long been advocating for the resumption of limited in-person classes in areas at low risk of COVID-19 transmission.

But the group questioned Health Secretary Francisco Duque III’s statement that “enough number of participating teachers” must be inoculated for a locality to be allowed to hold physical classes.

The group does not expect the new supply of vaccines to arrive in time for the Sept. 13 opening of classes.
