MANILA, Philippines — The City of Manila on Thursday said it now holds the record for the most number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in one day.

“We hold the national record, 43,011 persons vaccinated in one day,” Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said during his  third state of the city address.

Domagoso attributed this to the city’s “fast” vaccine registration process, and walk-in reservations.

He also noted that the city will soon cross the one million mark in terms of total number of vaccines administered.

“As I speak to you now, we’re about to deploy almost 1 million doses in the city of Manila, with 656,759 first dose and 302,278 second dose,” he said.

“Vaccination should be faster than infection, vaccination is the solution,” he added.
